Coincidence in H/h-istory

In june 2012, i was posting the biography of Desider Stern from 1938 until 1949.

I was totally unaware, until yesterday, that Austria's fate was already sealed in March 1938 as the german troops entered Vienna.

The name of Hitler's military operation, namely Austria's planned invasion, was:

OTTO

Then i look at you.

Nothing to do this week-end?

"Etna express" - 2 sizes

Made in Hungary... my heart, my heart!

Lovely.

Trademark between brackets. Patent holder on the badge. What else can you ask for?

"Etna express" - Marseille, France

Prière de m'aider à découvrir l'histoire de ces machines à café de la société ETNA.

La publicité ci-dessus (voir le lien) date de 1962.
L'usine se trouvait au 274, avenue des Poilus à Trois-lucs (Marseille, 12).

Merci!

Fool fool fool and (maybe) Re-fool

3 years ago:

I thought these machines had been researched.

2 years ago:

I thought that if someone made nice pictures with whatever text underneath, he was an expert.

1 year ago:

I thought i would stop collecting.

This year.
Well, it is a bit delicate.

This year, i think i will stop researching.
No doubt it will take me a bit of time to present "the rest" on the Blog... but basically, i think i am done.
I hope you heard the inside "Hurray".

Only the future will tell if i can fool myself 4 times in a row.

"La Sorrentina" & "Atomic" stovetop coffee machines

The correct grind of coffee

I have to set something clear now:

We are in 2012.

Neither the flatheads nor the roundheads produce espresso.

They simply don't.

They even didn't in 1948... so imagine, in 2012!!!

They are Moka pots.
Moka pots that are able to froth milk.
Nice looking Moka pots.

Of course, it is up to you to do whatever is in your power to increase the pressure.

May it be, like advised on this leaflet, to pack the coffee in tight.

Another solution comes from Giordano Robbiati's U.S.A. patent for a, i quote, "Coffee Maker":
Cut a filter paper to shape, and place it on the bottom of the coffee holder.

But may i comfort you:
You won't make it to 9 bar.

Yellow + Blue + Red = The colour of Coffee

Allora no!

I had few italian knowledge when i met Alfredo Robbiati...
Although, 3 months before my trip to Milan, i was hearing and practising the Michel Thomas italian course on my ipod on my way to work. ;.)

On the recordings i made of our conversation, there are phrases that stuck to my mind... and which i can't get rid of.

That is the case with Alfredo Robbiati's "Allora no!".

(Now starts part 2 of this post see here)

This is my "Allora no!".
(To reassure my 2 friends)

*******

Alfredo Robbiati took over the business of his father Giordano Robbiati.

Giordano Robbiati 's business was called "Brevetti Robbiati", Alfredo's: "S.T.E.M.A.C.".

S.T.E.M.A.C. opened its doors on the 23/08/1983

S.T.E.M.A.C. closed its doors on the 06/03/1989.

The business address was "Via Pietro Da Cemmo 4, Milan".

*******

For all the naives among the interested, have a look at these documents.
Take it from a former-naive and from someone who found the truth for himself.
Best regards,
Mik.

I tried to have a look at the building, one possibility was googleearth:

But then, i asked the local researcher Franco Balzarotti, and here is what became of the "Via Pietro Da Cemmo n°4": apartments  in a residential area.

Alfredo Robbiati & the Associazione Calcio Legnano

Legnano...

Its monument of the Battle of Legnano,
Its main street Tosi Municipale,
Its Lourdes Grotto,
Its S. Magno square...

But not only,

Legnano is also...

Its church and its Mayor house...

... as well as its football Stadium:

...not any football stadium...

... the football stadium of the AC. Legnano!!!

This Club had a fantastic player in its fantastic team!!!!
(ok ok i exaggerate, they were playing in the Serie C at that time)

ALFREDO ROBBIATI

Not a real football fan myself, but i had to have these original "fan" photos originally signed by Alfredo Robbiati.

I don't know how good he was at football.

One thing i can say for sure...

...He knew how to make coffee makers.

Here a "La Sorrentina" from his S.T.E.M.A.C. business:

Special Thanks to the Brevetti Robbiati / S.T.E.M.A.C. specialist Franco Balzarotti!
Without him sharing some information with me, i would never have found these photos!
Ciao Franco!
